We are seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager in China to own and manage the quality control
process in partnership with our local factories in Suzhou province with travel to Dalian and DongGuan
bimonthly.
This role is responsible for overseeing in-line and finished goods inspections for our young contemporary
bridesmaid dresses. The Quality Control Manager’s responsibilities include on-site production,
inspection, and monitoring for all steps of the production life cycle including raw material inspections,
cutting, sewing, finishing, trimming, pressing, labeling, stickering and ultimately packing goods to our
customers. This role will work closely with the Los Angeles Production team and factory management and
personnel to ensure that factory workers are producing high quality bulk garments as well as
troubleshoot any issues as they arise.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Improve and enforce quality control standards including random in-line and finished goods
inspections.
● Monitor all aspects of the bulk and Made To Order production lifecycle and work with factory
owners, floor managers, and sewing operators to ensure company quality standards are
being adhered to.
● Collaboration and Creation of Corrective Action Plans for quality issues as they arise with
factories and Los Angeles Headquarters, including mentoring and training factory
staff to improve on quality issues.
● Working with the factories on defective and/or damaged units to ensure that they are
repaired as needed based on company quality standards with the utmost attention to care
and within on time delivery.
● Continuous monitoring, tracking, and reporting daily WIP schedules, Purchase Orders, cut
tickets, trim pull sheets, Delivery Receipts, and other manufacturing documents to Los Angeles Headquarters the progress of production.
● Maintain constant communication with the Los Angeles based Product
Development & Production team via email, WeChat, and WhatsApp Monday through Friday
during normal Shanghai standard hours. Weekend work is not usually expected but may be
occasionally required depending on QC schedule and production emergencies
● Flag team on any unforeseen production delivery delays as they arise and make
recommendations to headquarters based on bottlenecks and delays on how to
troubleshoot with factories.
● Collecting random panels and samples from the line to ensure they meet quality standards,
and production is being produced according to approved to tech pack and approval TOP
construction, quality, and specs.
● Investigate customer complaints and take a proactive approach with factories to address
issues to ensure 1
st quality for our customer. Be able to conduct in-person QC meetings
directly with factories, under the guidance of the US team. Prepare meeting
agendas and recaps in an organized fashion.
● Monitor skill level of all manufacturing departments and report back to the Los Angeles
office with feedback and suggestions.
● Measuring full size run of batch quantities of random garments to ensure specs are within
tolerance.
● Ensuring factory cutting quality is good and fabric is relaxed, including monitoring
shrinkage during all steps in the production cycle.
● Checking packing is adhered to according to vendor manual and requirements.
Monitoring carton quantities, shipping marks, and taping is accurate before shipment
release.
● Providing full inspection reports for In-Line and Finished Goods including specs, photos, and
corrective action plan as needed.
● Partnering with the Compliance Auditor on ensuring the Factory is meeting all health and
safety requirements.
● Monitoring factory equipment in partnership with the factory to ensure machines are
properly calibrated, good workable condition and threads are changed frequently.
● Collaboration with 3rd party quality control inspectors as needed on timely inspections,
including scheduling and overseeing inspections.
● Enforce strict TOP on site approval procedures to ensure the factory is submitting TOP
samples after cutting and prior to major sewing proceedings and workmanship matches PP.
Experience Required:
● Degree in Related Field.
● Native Mandarin speaker, fluent in written and verbal English.
● 10 + years’ experience working as a Quality Control Manager for USA apparel brand for
women’s occasion dresses and gowns with emphasis on wovens.
● Highly skilled and prior sample sewing experience required with keen understanding of
sewing and finishing operations.
● Experience working in an apparel factory environment with understanding of factory sewing
machines and equipment
● Strong problem-solving skills for all aspects of the product life cycle
● Comprehensive understanding of AQL Protocol including identifying Critical, Major, Minor
Defects
● Excellent attention to detail and ability identifies problems as they arise and create
corrective action recommendations.
● Ability to adapt to production challenges as they arise.
● Ability to work independently and with a team.
● Ability to be on foot for long periods of time in a factory environment. Able to bend, stoop,
kneel, and lift to 50 lbs.
