Position Summary
The Straumann Group is seeking a dedicated Product Engineer to develop its new manufacturing campus in the Minhang district of Shanghai, China. This team member will play an important role in the Straumann Shanghai Campus Team, by creating and maintaining product-related documentation via tools such as SAP. As the site grows and matures into a fully developed manufacturing plant for the Straumann Group brands, will also serve as a key member for Sustaining Product transfers and ensure that the Shanghai Campus is able meet the deadlines to localize and begin production of these articles.
Job Responsibilities
• Coordinate the different departments: Engineering, Quality, Production, Supply Chain, etc to ensure that the Shanghai Manufacturing has fulfilled all documentation requirements and compliance requirements to localize the product.
• Coordinate different departments to ensure that the Shanghai Manufacturing has developed/”industrialized” all physical and virtual pre-requisites (fixtures, tools, programming, etc) to localize the product.
• Transfer DHF & DMR documents for Straumann Group products to be manufactured in China.
• Develop transfer documents and DMR documents for transfer products or new developed products.
• During manufacturing ramp-up, continue to manage Sustaining Projects to transfer products
• Collaborate with colleagues across the world to meet product realization within budget and on time.
• Demonstrate independent thinking and excellent judgment in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for systems implementations.
• Abide by and be responsible for performing all duties in accordance with all environmental, health and safety regulations and practices pertinent to this position.
• Other duties as may be assigned by line manager.
Qualifications
Candidates must have the following qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or above in an Engineering discipline, such as Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent background.
• 3-5 years working experience in the medical device industry in process development and/or Product Transfer positions.
• Language skills: Medium level- capable of speaking and writing English.
• Past experience with using SAP. Bonus if experience included working with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) module within SAP.
• Familiar with some of medical product machining and EOL process like CNC machining, cleaning, anodizing, tumbling, bead blasting, laser marking, etc.
Desired
The following qualifications are desired and considered a plus to have:
• Willingness to learn and acquire new knowledge. The knowledge will primarily be either technical knowledge of SAP functionalities, or informational knowledge of how Straumann organizes PLM data and documents.
• Good communication skills to work as a team with the other departments to finish transfer projects on time.
• Some familiarity with different types of change requests (ECO, DCR, etc…) and the change impact process.
