JOB DESCRIPTION
1. The China Product Development Specialist will serve as the bridge to connect China / Vietnam based vendors with our U.S. Product Development and Product Management team.
2. Source and develop potential vendors as well as drive a respectful and collaborative vendor relationship with existing vendors to ensure they meet all company’s requirements including value, quality, and innovation.
3. Provide support in streamlining sourcing process and enhancement of product specification for price negotiation, cost reduction initiatives and high quality of products. Handle cost and commercial terms negotiation with vendors.
4. Understanding specific production methods, especially plastic injection molding, metal stamping and fabrication.
5. Basic knowledge of basic raw materials for consumer products, as in different plastics and other polymers, metals, finishes and coatings, among others.
6. Facilitate quotations amongst vendors, conduct cost comparison and assess samples and make presentation/recommendation to US in a timely manner.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
* 3+ years of experience in product sourcing & development of houseware or consumer products for global markets
* Previous work experience for OEM, but also ODM or direct to marketing sourcing/development.
* 3+ years of engineering background on housewares
* Proven experience in working within a team environment.
* Ability to be self-directed and hands-on.
* ERP/MRP past experience.
* Fluency in English, written and spoken is a must.
