The Travel Risk Manager is responsible to provide day-to-day supervision and delivery of high-quality security assessment and advice primarily to Chinese-speaking clients operating globally, and secondarily to inbound clients to China. They will provide security advice and situational awareness for business travellers, international assignees, and security managers, including during security incidents/crises around the world.

Operational Service Delivery
• Together with STRM, to man the China Security Desk and Managed Service Desk as required to provide high-quality written and verbal security risk management advice and assistance for clients’ security managers and workforce, in line with agreed service delivery standards;
• Deliver high-quality Chinese language security content, including weekly forecasts and in-depth analytical reports, in line with market need and editorial standards;
• Identify and address the priorities of Chinese clients.
• Support clients inbound to China through case management and information output as directed by the STRM;
• Collaborate with the Beijing Assistance management team to enable integration with the broader Assistance function.
• Act as the senior local operational escalation point for security assistance cases, as required, in close coordination with the relevant Regional Security Centre;
• Provide supervision and case direction guidance to security team members in the Beijing Assistance Centre, including escalation support for information or assistance issues;
• Participate in local On-Call roster;
• During major escalations, lead outreach to Chinese speaking clients aligned with the approved Party Line;
• In specific circumstances, be ready to deploy at short notice as part of an Incident Management Team to support clients in crisis situations;

Support Client Engagement, Delivery of Consulting and Training Services
• Coordinate security contribution to Beijing Assistance Centre tours, including preparation, rehearsal and delivery;
• In close collaboration with STRM and China S&M team, support key client meetings, marketing events and webinars as required;
• In close collaboration with STRM and Security Training and Consulting team, facilitate and/or support the delivery of Security Consulting and Training.

Personal Development
• Build thorough understanding of current events affecting regional / global business travelers and workforce; learn the approach to providing written and verbal security advice and briefs to clients.
• To become fully conversant with and follow all systems and procedures required by the Senior Travel Risk Manager, Greater China.

Required Skills and Knowledge
• Strong interest in the global political and security landscape;
• Strong knowledge of the security risk management best practices and principles;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Chinese and English, including ability to explain complex situations and advice to non-expert audiences;
• Ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure;
• High levels of attention to detail;
• Ability to work in a global, cross-cultural context;
• IT skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and other applications;
• Willingness to work outside of normal duty hours, in support of team operations, particularly in times of crisis;
• International experience (work and personal).

Desirable Work Experience
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in security-related field: journalism, relevant field of academia, military, police, government, NGO, or private sector roles
• Experience of writing and presentation for a business audience
• Customer service / client facing (for example, sales, trainer)
• Oversea working experience desirable

Required Languages
• Native Mandarin speaker
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Other language proficiency desirable

Travel / Rotation Requirements
• Reasonable travel, sometimes at short notice
• Flexible working hours
