Job Summary:

Ulink College of Shanghai is seeking a diligent Librarian to join our team. The Librarian will be responsible for for various day-to-day tasks, such as curating resources, assisting students and teachers with research, and promoting a culture of reading and learning within the school community. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep appreciation for literature and education. We are looking for a candidate with the strong English and Chinese language skills.
Key Responsibilities
Library Management:

● Maintain an organized and welcoming library environment.

● Catalogue, classify, and shelve library materials using Follett system.

● Manage circulation of library materials, including check-in, check-out, and renewal processes.
Resource Curation:

● Select and acquire library materials, including books, periodicals, digital resources, and multimedia materials, in alignment with curriculum needs and student interests.

● Stay updated on current trends in literature, educational resources, and library technology.
Research Support:

● Assist students and techers with research inquiries, providing guidance on information literacy, database usage, and citation formats.

● Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into classroom instruction and assignments.

● Offer workshops or training sessions on research skills and academic integrity.
Promotion of Reading Culture:

● Develop and implement programs and initiatives to foster a love of reading among students.

● Organize a book club, author visits, reading challenges, and other literary events.

● Create displays and promotional materials to showcase new acquisitions and highlight themed collections.
Collaboration and Outreach:

● Collaborate with other school departments to support interdisciplinary projects and initiatives.

● Liaise with vendors, publishers, and external organizations to procure resources and coordinate events.

● Manage the book/magazine order, tracking and data analysis

● Assist to Head of Library in various library tasks

● Engage with parents and community members to promote library services and resources.
Qualifications:

● Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Information Science, Education, or a related field.

● Proven experience working in a library or educational setting, with knowledge of library operations and best practices.

● Familiarity with library management systems and digital library platforms.

● Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, and stakeholders.

● Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

● Proficiency in both English and Mandarin Chinese (written and verbal).

● Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in library services and collections.
