The Enterprise Computing department is seeking a skilled virtualization engineer to design and implement ongoing continuous improvements to our modern China exclusive VMware platform. An experienced hands-on engineer with a solid understanding of VMware technology and proven expertise with automating VMware products would be the ideal fit for this role.

Key responsibilities
Certify new versions of products, develop and test upgrade procedures, and support the SRE team to perform the deployment.
Evaluate potential new products via implementation of lab proof-of-concept implementations.
Acting as a top-level escalation point to perform complex troubleshoots, working with the vendor plus other infrastructure & application owners to resolve issues including performance tuning.
Developing automation to eliminate operational toil and support the scale-up of the environment.

Key skills required
Advanced understanding of designing, building and operating VMware in an Enterprise environment.
Experience with Enterprise compute and storage hardware, including encryption capabilities and key management. Knowledge of hyper-converged infrastructure platforms would be a plus.
Ability to troubleshoot complex problems, liaise with vendors and manage issues to resolution.
Proficiency in advanced scripting: Python and Shell. Experience using Ansible would be a plus.
Good verbal and written communication skills in English
