Springer Nature is seeking to hire Editorial Submissions Assistant who will provide an excellent service to Chinese researchers in suggesting the best possible choice of journals to submit their papers. These entry-level positions will provide great experience for individuals wishing to start a career in academic publishing.
Candidates should be qualified to MSc or PhD level in any area of science, technology or medicine, and should be keen to expand their knowledge outside of their immediate area of specialty.
Locations: Shanghai(primary)/Nanjing/Beijing
Main responsibilities：

• Assess the scope and quality of manuscripts, and find suitable target journals in the Springer Nature portfolio.

• Communicate effectively with authors regarding journal options and the submissions process, and answering queries.

• Work within agreed specifications regarding volumes and timeframes, maintaining internal quality standards.

• Develop knowledge of, and stay up to date with, the relevant systems and tools.

• Stay up to date with your assigned subject area(s) and with relevant Springer Nature journals, to ensure the relevance of journal suggestions.

• Work with the Submissions Editorial and Operations team and local stakeholders to develop and evolve processes that are optimal for Chinese authors.
Requirements for the position：

Essential

• MSc / PhD level or equivalent experience in any area of science, technology or medicine

• Broad academic interests, with enthusiasm to learn outside of your own subject area.

• An interest in publishing and the needs of researchers.

• Fast learner in regards to both software tools and processes.

• Excellent communication skills, with proficiency in English and comfortable with communicating with both internal and external stakeholders.

• Proven organizational ability and time management skills.

• A high level of computer literacy (including Excel, Word and Outlook).

• Proven analytical/critical appraisal skills.

Desirable

• Experience in writing and/or submitting academic papers.
