Core Requirements

• Degree qualified or similar qualification minimum, Masters qualification desirable.
• Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
• Good logical reasoning ability.
• Able to translate business plans into individual objectives for the product and the staff.
• Ability to overcome cultural barriers.
• Manages a group of Engineers and/or an acknowledged industry expert in one or more areas.
• A minimum of 15 years' automotive experience essential, with at least 5 years acting as a system lead and technical expert in the field.
• Proven experience in delivering thermal system projects within a development environment.
• Native Chinese speaker with excellent (KS Level 5) English proficiency.
• Small team management experience advantageous.
• Ability to communicate effectively across a range of stakeholders.
• Understands roles and needs of different client groups; evidence of working effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve results.
• Ensures procedures and quality standards are clearly communicated and actioned.
• Takes responsibility for process improvement and communicates this to staff at all levels.
Capable of managing complex projects and providing leadership to a multifunctional project team.
• Experience in a start-up, first tier, or engineering service provider would be a distinct advantage.
• Awareness of DFMEA (Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) and FUSA (Functional Safety) standards.

Main Activities/tasks:
Role – The Thermal module group leader acts as the single point of contact for the complete thermal management system interfacing with China partners and UK Engineering teams and is responsible for ensuring the system is delivered to time, cost, quality, and functionality.

Thermal System
• Fully conversant in electric vehicle thermal management, including HVAC, powertrain, and charging systems; understands the benefits and effects of various configurations.
• High level of understanding of new thermal technology developments influencing the industry.
• Understanding of thermal system schematics and architecture. Including integrated thermal management concepts (Heat pumps, AC, coolant systems).
• In-depth knowledge of thermal system components and their integration into electric light commercial vehicles. Including refrigeration and coolant systems.
• Involvement in EV vehicle development and knowledge of systems engineering is an advantage.
• Capable of developing thermal system and sub-system validation tests (VT's).
• Understanding of appropriate thermal modelling techniques, their application and validation. Any direct experience with simulation tools (1D/3D) an advantage.
• Objective and subjective evaluation of the vehicle's thermal performance.
• Management of the thermal supplier base in terms of requirements cascade, statement of requirements and driving need for quality, delivery and cost.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes related to thermal components and a good level of cost estimating for the thermal system.
• Fully conversant with all legal and homologation standards applicable to the thermal system.
• Understanding and use of Catia V6/V5 & 3DX for thermal system design.•
