Volkswagen Automatic Transmission (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. (VWATJ), as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Volkswagen Group, is a large green-field transmission producer of the VW Group in China. We produce high-quality DSG transmissions for millions of Volkswagen Group China’s domestically produced vehicles since 2014 and we continue to advance with high quality standards and technical standards to maintain the momentum in the China market. This position will be the sole designated legal advisor for VWAC, which was established mainly for supply of battery systems to VWA for its whole-vehicle assembly business and is thus of high strategic importance for the NEV/New Mobility investment in Anhui.

Job Title: Legal Counsel VWAC

Your Responsibilities:

* This position is the primary guardian of the daily legal and company-level strategic legal advice for a key supplier of one of the biggest and technology-wise most important investments of the Volkswagen Group in the area of NEV/New Mobility, which shall manage VWAC's legal risks and facilitate its business objectives with an eye on ethics and integrity and in an expectedly fast-growing and evolving business environment with direct customer exposure and subject to varying legal-related group and company-level targets, which shall be implemented by this position.
* This position is the main contact person for VWAC BoM and top management to address, discuss and seek advice on any legal matters related to VWAC.
* Responsible for the proper set-up of legal and legal compliance processes and systems in compliance with Volkswagen Group standards in the course of VWAC's operation of businesses.  As part of this, the position should act as role model for integrity and compliance within whole VWAC organization.
* Manage and decide on all aspects of legal matters related to the business operation of VWAC, including finance, HR, purchasing, logistics, production, product quality, intellectual property, EHS, government affairs, etc.
* Draft, review and negotiate various contracts, agreements and other legal documents in English and/or Chinese, including but not limited to purchase agreements, service agreements, construction agreements, supply agreements, license agreements, non-disclosure agreements, etc.
* Engage and manage external lawyers in contentious cases such as litigation and arbitration on civil, commercial and labor law matters, either initiated by or against VWAC;
* Provide legal support from business lawyer perspective in investigation cases, such as brand protection investigation, taxation investigation, customs investigation, employment investigation;
* Provide legal advice and support from business lawyer perspective in technology and other intellectual property license matters;
* Develop and update legal document templates per business needs;
* Provide business departments with knowledge sharing sessions to strengthen legal awareness of business colleagues;
* Provide legal support in company registration, renewal and update matters;
* Monitor the change of laws and regulations and assess the possible impact that may bring to the business;
* Draft company policies that are within legal’s scope of responsibility and provide legal support to the others in their formulation, implementation and monitoring;
* Provide support from legal perspective in BoD meetings and follow-up activities;
* Other duties as assigned based on business needs.

Your Qualifications

* Law degree from a reputable university;
* LL.B with 7 years PQE or LL.M with 5 years PQE at a law firm or MNC;
* Solid legal knowledge of PRC laws in the above mentioned subject areas;
* PRC bar;
* Native mandarin speaker plus fluency in oral and written English. German language skill is preferred but not mandatory;
* Extensive experiences in drafting and negotiating various commercial contracts;
* Ability to provide reliable and practical legal advice for VWAC’s top management in an evolving, highly complex and sensible regulatory environment for automotive battery manufacturing, with a special focus on business know-how and cross-functional communication as well as interpersonal skills to handle a variety of different stakeholders;
* Good command of Microsoft office (Word, Outlook, PPT, Excel);
* Excellent communication skills with proven ability to manage multi-tasks within required timeline;
* Ability to work independently as well as in cross-functional team and to become trusted “go-to person” for legal topics for number of internal customers
* Work experience in automotive industry is preferred.
