Responsibilities:
1) Operate and maintain standard lubricant laboratory test equipment, including viscometers, pour point, flash point, total acid number (TAN), water, dielectric strength, density, colour, GC-MS, FT-IR etc.
2) Run the PVT test with calibration, validation, standard running after proper training.
3) Sample preparation strictly following the BOM and water dehydration following the SOP tips.
4) Enter and upload test data into Lubrizol internal software GBTRS/Rex. Understand and perform testing calculations; ability to identify and resolve incorrect calculations and process the calculations manually if necessary. Recognize data inconsistencies before uploading.
5) Recognize validity of test data. Notify supervisor regarding non-conformances and be able to identify root causes of inconsistent test data.
6) Perform routine troubleshooting and repair on tests and equipment.
7) Recognize priority conflicts of testing; prioritize and communicate test schedules to customers. Run multiple tests at a time.
8) Actively participate in the lab management in equipment annual external calibration, involved in Lab purchasing, Lab 5S and housework.
9) Articulate and communicate testing issues to co-worker, supervisor, and customer. Provide timely status updates. Work with customers on special requests. Follow-up on customer questions or concerns.
10) Participate in waste disposal, type 2-3 chemical purchasing and annual report and annual lab audit.
11) Responsible for lab ISO construction.
Skills and Competencies Requirements:
1) Bachelor’s degree in chemistry background required.
2) 2- 6 years of chemistry lab experience required.
3) Lubricant lab testing or third-party chemical testing lab experience preferred.
4) Initiative and responsible attitude.
5) Strong safety sense.
6) Fluent in English both written and verbal.
7) Blend lubricants with additives and ensure the final formulations are within their designed specification.
