The Role

The Body Controls Quality Assurance Engineer within the Firmware org is responsible for defining and executing system validation test plans. You will work closely with software developers, program managers, and your component validation counterparts to come up with the best validation strategies for both released and upcoming vehicle platforms. The scope contains systems such as authentication and security, closures and windows, external and internal lighting, as well as several other systems. Additionally, as the system validation representative you will work closely with other component owners as well to ensure our system is well integrated and optimized and validated from a full vehicle perspective.



Responsibilities

• Design validation strategies for new vehicle platforms and new feature releases

• Conduct system level tests on Tesla vehicles for new Firmware release

• Support critical releases, with critical timelines

• Debug and root-cause issues on various Tesla vehicle features and components

• Communicate issues discovered clearly and directly to developers and program managers

• Track persistent bugs and conduct iterative tests on releases to pinpoint when bugs were introduced



Qualifications

• Valid driving license and clean driving record (must be able to operate a vehicle)

• 2+ years of Software Testing/QA Engineer experience

• BS or higher degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or the equivalent in experience with evidence of exceptional ability

• Strong attention to detail for conducting tests while driving

• Team player yet capable of being highly independent

• Enjoys working on exciting time-critical projects

• Solid logical reason and understanding of basic physics

• Able to communicate (written/verbal) issues and concerns clearly across the Firmware org

• Experience using JIRA and other Atlassian tools

• Proficiency in general data analysis

• Knowledge of CAN architecture highly desired

• Electrical debugging experience highly desired
