Responsibilities

•Strengthen company’s research brand recognition in China through thoughtful planning and implementation of a robust thought leadership agenda, maximizing impact and widening investor reach.

•Responsible for the quality and timeliness of company’s qualitative research outputs through lead Manager Research’s effort to conduct due diligence on and critically assess fund managers in China.

•Lead company’s rating process in China as chair of the local rating committee; be accountable for the performance of all rating recommendations in China.

•Lead and develop analysts in formulating and justifying our opinions on investment strategies through involved mentorship, report editing, and the facilitation of robust ratings committee discussions and debates.

•Closely collaborate with global research leaders to maximize the value of our research IP in China, and act as a bridge between the China local teams and international stakeholders as required.

•Support the strategic priorities of the China business that falls within the core capabilities of manager research.

•Enhance company’s research profile in China by maintaining a public profile, media presence, and authoring research papers and articles.

•Act as a key spokesperson for company in China through active engagements with the external market, including but not limited to the regulator, wealth managers, asset managers, and the media.

•Provide a clear structure and a professional working environment for the analyst team to perform.

•Provide clear direction and an “open door” policy if analysts require clarification, direction, and assistance.

•Handle ad-hoc analytical assignments and undertake other administrative, research and/or analytical work as required. 


About You

•Demonstrated track record in an investment/research leadership role.

•A passion for investing and a strong buy-in for company’s core mission of empowering investor success.

•At least 10 years of investment and research-related experience, with a demonstrated background in Chinese fund manager due diligence.

•A solid understanding of China-based asset managers, where proven expertise across equities and fixed income would be viewed favourably.

•Familiarity with local fund rating regulations and experience engaging with local regulators is a plus.

• Ability to work within an interdisciplinary and international team that includes investment experts, qualitative researchers, data analysts, and software developers.

• Native written and verbal Chinese communication skills, and advanced written and verbal English communication skills, combined with a track record of writing concise, reader-friendly research pieces.

•Strong presentation skills, where experience with the media, clients, and large audiences is preferred.

•Ability to self-motivate and work independently, to prioritise effectively and work in a methodical manner to meet deadlines.

•Ability to act with integrity and comply with our research integrity policy.

•Strong attention to detail with proven analytical skills, especially in quantitative disciplines.

•Proactive aptitude to building effective internal and external relationships with key stakeholders and acting as a representative of company.

•Bachelor’s degree; advanced degrees and certifications are desirable.
