Objective of job
• Manage and coordinate overall projects in the area of development in accordance with the customer requirements to ensure product development and support which is on schedule, adheres to the budget and the development (product & process) status, from the concept phase through series production as per agreement with the Program Manager and the Management while adhering to the defined project targets and the available resources. Cooperate in several B-level or A-level projects.
• Create project plans/concepts and assure they are followed (e.g. resource planning, schedule planning, cost planning, etc.) in cooperation with technical or key project leaders as well as technical areas; introduce actions in case of deviations, as required
• Act as interface between involved internal/external areas (e.g. key project leader, technical project leader, sub-project leader, customer, suppliers, departments, etc.) and Development.
Principle activities
• Cooperate in conducting risk analyses
• Develop suggestions for project organization; select suitable associates in cooperation with supervisors and define tasks, rules and interfaces
• Assure compliance with allocated project budget and distribute to functions reporting to him/her (e.g. sub-project leaders, etc.); introduce actions in case of deviations
• Analyze and evaluate changes (internal/external), cooperate in negotiations (e.g. volume and costs of changes, etc.) and assure implementation within development area
• Create and check project reports and presentations, as well as project conclusion documentation
• Provide technical leadership for project associates and/or sub-project leaders
• Acquisition / Quotation Phase: Clarifying the technical requirements and ensuring the compilation of quotations with regards to development costs on the basis of the customer requirements and within the defined general conditions of the customer division (Key Project Manager) in collaboration with the competent departments. Supporting the various departments in negotiations with the customer divisions and Purchasing with regards to the suppliers right up to the final submission of the quotation.
• Project Organization: Working out a suggestion by a project organization in the BU in accordance with the internal BU directives. Cooperation to determine suitable employees in each of the centers as per agreement with their supervisors and approval according to a defined process. Defining tasks, rules and interfaces for the Sub-Project Managers, BGVs etc. and as agreed to by the nominated Project Manager. Adapting the project structure to the changed requirements in the course of the project’s progress. Coordinate and verify product & process development activities to meet project requirements and milestones.
• Project planning: Ensure the creation of project plans with regards to the tasks and deadlines. Obtaining the agreement of the affected departments for approval by the relevant manager.
• Project Budget: Ensure that the project cost planning of the project is worked out and agreed on and monitoring adherence in all the departments and taking counter-action in the case of any deviations from the target/actual plan.
• Project Control: Ensure that the project targets are achieved with regards to keeping to the deadlines, developing costs and quality in accordance with the services agreed on with the Key Project Manager. Encouraging constructive teamwork within the own project organization. Demanding solutions to problems on the basis of the SEP rules to achieve the project targets. Negotiating in conflict situations according to the escalation mechanism and as per agreement with the Key Project Manager and if necessary the Management.
• Change Management: Ensure clarification of the technical implementation of change requests from the customer in collaboration with the development engineers at the customer’s and the project organization and ensuring the changes are carried out. Analysing and evaluating cost effects in reference to the own budget and reporting the new cost frame to the Key Project Manager.
• Customer Support: Provide customer support to various departments. Act as key customer contact for Development related topics. Carrying out regular coordinating talks with the customer as the key contact for all development topics as per agreement with the Key Project Manager. Coordinate handling of mutually taken actions. Collecting and/or analysing strategic customer information to develop innovative solutions and passing them on internally.
• Supplier: Support the project buyer in defining the requirements for the suppliers and in the supplier decision. Assisting in make-or-buy decisions.
• Reporting: Compiling periodic project reports (according to agreed on rules) and presentations before and during the term of the project as well as documentation on the project conclusion for transfer to the management. In the event of deviations from the target/actual condition, ensuring adherence to the defined escalation levels for information to the Management and the Key Project Manager in due time.
• Leadership: Lead and motivate the product & process development associates within the project organization according to the agreed on directives and authorizations. In the event of performance problems or general problems, possible discussion with the line supervisor or escalation.
Job requirements
• Bachelor's degree or above.
• Technical studies (electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, etc.) or comparable, well-grounded technical occupations; proven competence in the corresponding area (e.g. electrical, interior, etc.)
