Position Overview
? This role is part of the Retail Sales team where our purpose is to enable category and shopper led strategic plans across best in class thought leadership and collaboration to deliver against McCormick and customer goals and objectives.
? The Category Management Manager is within our Category Management pillar which contributes to McCormick acting as a thought leader to our sales and customer partners by supporting the development and execution of national, regional and customer strategies in the areas of assortment and space optimization, pricing and promotions, and merchandising solutions through high expertise of our retail landscape, categories, shoppers, and consumers.
? This role is a resource to providing in-depth analysis to determine category strategies and opportunities. This includes assisting the Sales director in the development and execution of category plan,providing market insights through the collection of relevant local and national market trends and shopper research techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
? Understanding of industry, category, shopper, and consumer trends and translating those insights into actionable strategic business recommendations to achieve both McCormick and customer goals and objectives.
? Lead providing analysis and recommendations into forming our national and regional category strategies and priorities across assortment, merchandising, and pricing all aimed to maximize category and McCormick performance. Part of this includes input into our category merchandising strategies and optimized assortment to support setting national best in class planograms and merchandising solutions. In addition, the role will form strategic product priority rankings leveraging various performance and strategic inputs. This area will require engaging with cross functional partners across Sales Planning, Marketing, Finance, Sales and external partners.
? Support business performance reporting and tracking including providing detailed insights against key performance drivers across the marketplace, category, brand, and shopper along with identifying key causals and areas of opportunities and risks.
? Responsible for Planogram development on customer specific projects while leveraging merchandising strategies and addressing category opportunities to optimize assortment and placement for the customer and McCormick. This includes engaging with internal and external teams on category presentations to gain alignment to recommendations.
? Leadership over Nielsen Database Management to ensure key analytical database are accurate and provide recommendations
Required Qualifications:
? Bachelor’s degree is required with an emphasis on Business is preferred
? 5+ years of branded industry experience preferably in Sales Strong analytical skills and understanding of key category performance drivers and measurements
? Ability to analyze data to form business insights and recommendations
? Experience analyzing POS and shopper data across various platforms with strong working knowledge of Nielsen, Kantar, etc.
? Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft 360, especially Excel and PowerPoint
Interpersonal Skills -leadership, interactions, communication, influence
? Ability to build and maintain relationships and work in a team environment with cross functional partners including: Sales Account Management, Sales Insights Team, Marketing
? Must be self-motivated, possess excellent communication (written, verbal and presentation skills) and organization skills, and interact effectively with all levels within the organization.
