REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

• Strength in engineering fundamental and technical project management. Demonstrated hands-on leadership skills in mentoring and supervising of technical staff.
• Proven success in managing people and projects in multiple locations, preferably within international company. Excellent communications skills. Proven ability to communicate with global environment and multi-site people from various country.
• Familiar with product design concept selection, 3D CAD, engineering drawing standard, prototype, and engineering build.
• Proven ability to work with all levels of people in organization.
• Excellence in problem solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communicator to motivate, operate, influence, and convince managers, engineers, peers and leaders.
• Excellence communication skills to present and report of project technical status, risk, and issues appropriately. Good command of English speaking and writing.

POSITION PROFILE (Major duties, accountabilities, and responsibilities)

1. Leadership
• Work collectively with HR to continuously recruit the best local talent for your team.
• Plan the performance review, careers, and assignments of the reporting associates with them to the satisfaction of the objectives of the company and of the individual associates.
• Responsible on manager’s & engineer’s development within the team. Manage their goal, personal development, coaching, mentoring, and motivating.
• Improve and maintain the image of development engineering at BISSELL as an effective, efficient and reliable function in the company. Develop efficiency and reliability measurements. Improve and maintain the morale of those in development engineering.
• Create an innovative environment.
• Cooperate in the mutual setting and implementation of department goals.
• Plan and maintain budgets as assigned.

2. Functional Expertise:
• Ensure the establishment of strong planning and execution relationships with Marketing and Program Management to ensure resources are most effectively utilized.
• Facilitate the use of BISSELL Global Product Development Process on all new product development projects, on appropriate major changes to existing products, as well as the transfer of existing products to new production locations within the region.
• Work with our suppliers throughout the region to support and drive them to deliver all aspects of our product development program including our core program, product maintenance, capacity tooling etc. in a timely manner; this may require frequent travel to support these suppliers onsite.
• Manage Engineering excellences and continues improvement program, drive design and development efficiency by reduce development time, increase quality and reliability, and cost reduction.
• As a Technical Team Leadership, own the design and engineering integrity as well as technical maturity of our new products through detailed and rigorous specifications, functional requirements, testing, safety and compliance standards, performance results, quality, predictive star ratings, planning and clear communication with the product development and engineering staff.
• Lead and manage development activities on new products, projects transfer, and production are well communicated, understood, and executed in a timely manner as outlined by the BISSELL Global Product Development process, and other relevant R&D processes and agreed to by the specific Project Teams.
• Assure complete technical requirements and specifications are defined for new products at the appropriate time during the development process. Manage proper documentation of the specifications in the Design Guides, QFD charts (if used), and on part and assembly drawings.
• Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously and travel if required.
• Prepare material and present product design and development status for Design and Phase Review.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: (i.e., degree, years of experience, etc.)

• Degree minimum: Bachelor’s Degree.
• Specific concentration: Mechanical, Electromechanical or Systems Engineering.
• Experience level: 13+ years of work experience in a technical environment with a minimum of 8+ years of demonstrated experience leading larger engineering teams in an intensive consumer appliance product design and development, preferably floorcare products.
• Experience leading in a multi-site, global environment building trust and driving execution and results across locations.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: (i.e., MBA, certifications, etc.)

• Formal product innovation training / experience
• Experience at a company focused on change and expansion

This position requires the ability to manage the flow of data, perform analysis, generate summary reports, and communicate by voice or data while being connected in the office, at home or while travelling by laptop or mobile device regularly without regard to time zone or day of the week.
