Introduction of the Position:
The Senior Manager SCM Ore Haulage (SMOH) will provide leadership and direction to the ore haulage activities of SCM. This will include selecting, onboarding and supervising haulage contractors, managing road maintenance activities and evaluating new requirements or opportunities. The role will include a significant component of relationship building and collaboration with MBM’s partners in developing the Konawe resources, most notably Tsingshan, Huayue and GEM/ESH. The SMOH will work with the SCM management team to deliver against agreed operational targets and budgets.

The SMOH role requires excellent planning and organisational skills, a commercial focus and very good communication skills. The person needs to understand the safety and operational standards required and work with contractors and the SCM team to meet and maintain these standards. The person will need to be able to react and adapt quickly to changes in the markets and customers we are working with.

• Work in collaboration with the SCM Management Team and MBM Senior Management to meet ore delivery targets safely and efficiently.
• Be able to generate, track, analyse and report on a detailed schedule of activities directly related to the work.
• Can operate with a high degree of autonomy, interacting effectively with peers and leaders, including shareholders and the executive team.
• Well-developed relationship building and influencing skills.
• Very good written and verbal communication skills.
• Understand and share best practices in haulage operations.
• Able to assist with quarterly and yearly budget planning and perform regular reconciliation and variance reports.
• Understand, support and implement SCM/Merdeka safety standards and programmes.

Capability Profile:
• 15 years’ experience in bulk materials haulage in mining or a related sector with strong mix of technical and practical experience.
• Experience working with Chinese owned and operated haulage contractors and customers.
• Good people management skills.
• Ability to influence at senior levels across the organization and with business partners.
• Strong problem-solving skills with high levels of motivation, initiative, and energy.
• Knowledge of haulage equipment.
• Knowledge bulk materials haulage operations.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and permits.
• Effective written and oral communications in English and Mandarin
