University of Nottingham Ningbo China is seeking to recruit a Curator of UNNC Museum
Your Responsibility
Your key responsibilities include:
Responsible for developing UNNC Museum annual plan including but not limited to acquisition plan, exhibition and budget plan;
Ensure plans complement by leading the team and feed into the university-wide strategies;
Design programme of special and permanent exhibitions according to the University and visitor needs;
Manage the planning and scheduling of all stages of the exhibition process, in liaison with other departments as necessary;
Oversee the production of all exhibition design and coordinate all related events, publications, online resources, social media and outreach;
Acquire objects or collections of interest to the museum through background researches;
Responsible for cataloging acquisitions that ensure exhibitions are fully documented for archival purposes, and maintain exhibition archives and files (both paper and electronic) in a timely and accurate manner;
Display objects or collections in a way that makes them accessible and engaging to the general public;
Collaborate with Faculties and Professional Services for the continuous development of UNNC history exhibition;
Liaise with museum of UNUK and UNM to develop cross-campus programme;
Liaise with internal and external staff and departments, including technical staff, artists, curators, contractors, conservators, departments, etc;
Represent and promote UNNC Museum or provide specialist input at both internal and external meetings/events, influencing differing opinions and handling questions/objections as required;
Network with colleagues in other higher education institutions and other sectors to share best practice and facilitate future exchange of information.
Analyse and interpret data using a range of techniques; identifying trends, testing solutions, sourcing additional related information where appropriate, and reporting on progress through briefings or formal reports.

Master degree
Relevant working experience
An evidence-prove curation experience
Hands-on experience is highly valued and, in some cases, can even be a substitute for qualifications
Knowledge in a wide subject area, which is able to understand various exhibitions
An understanding of the key working relationships required with staff at all levels across the Department/school/Faculty/University
Quick adaption to new working environment
Have connection in the professional area
Practical skills in setting up exhibitions
A lively, creative and innovative approach to interpretation
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Organisation and management skills to get exhibitions ready on time
Project management skills to manage the setting up of exhibitions
A customer-focused approach to work, always considering the needs of the visitor
Teamwork skills for liaising with artists, curators, external contractors and conservators
A flexible approach to work to meet tight deadlines and undertake a range of activities
Self-motivation and the ability to act on your own initiative
Good IT skills
A genuine interest in artefacts, art or other cultural material
