A Development Center Engineer is required to support the running of the Development Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe running of the laboratory, planning, and execution of technical projects, and reporting to the development center manager.

Key Objective:
The focus of the Center will be performance benchmarking of existing products, development of Intellectual Property (IP) and development of new products, up to proof-of-concept stage.
The Engineer will be responsible for supporting the safe and efficient performance of the Development Center in collaboration with other team members. They will understand the challenges associated with running a commercial lab with a focus on product development. In addition, the candidate will plan and execute technical projects, analyze data, manage documentation, and develop SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the safe and efficient performance of a laboratory environment
• Presenting project findings to the manager in written and verbal communications in both English and Chinese
• Understand commercial challenges associated with product development
• Plan and execute technical projects
• SOP development and testing processes
• Management of document storage systems
• Supporting in the development of new products from concept to finished products
• Identify and develop methods to evaluate technical performance using statistical analysis
• Carry out & oversee troubleshooting, analytical testing or evaluation
• Assist with regular safety inspections of machinery and equipment present on the site and update records of completion as required
• Apply good working practices around chemical handling in accordance with COSHH regulations
• Undertake all aspects of good housekeeping to reduce risks associated with the workspace and equipment

Required Knowledge and Experience

• Master’s degree and above in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics or similar, master would be advantageous
• Good written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese
• More than 1 year's experience working in a commercial lab
• Experience planning projects and managing resources for 0-1 product development
• Understanding of basic laboratory safety and equipment operation
• Experience designing, testing and optimizing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) would be advantageous
• Experience of advanced data analyses would be advantageous
• Positive attitude and courtesy in dealing with others
• Ability to organize and manage own workload and demonstrate flexibility in terms of work practices/requirement
