We are looking for a talented lawyer to join HP’s GLA team as a legal counsel to support the company’s business growth in the Greater China area. The position will be based in Beijing (preferred, Taipei can also be considered).

If you are hired as the Legal Counsel, you will have chance to:

1. Identify and resolve complex contract issues requiring in-depth consideration of multiple factors.

2. Contribute to complex multidimensional projects or transactions.

3. Develop new ideas and methods to effectively address recurring legal issues or matters facing multiple client organizations.

4. Assist the business with product/service development initiatives

5. Interact with regulatory authorities and relevant functional teams on licensing, product quality and other compliance related issues.

6. Provide legal consulting and advise to internal business teams and project stakeholders and to work seamlessly with internal project teams on a large variety of areas including Customer Service (CS), HR, anti-unfair competition, anti-trust, privacy and dispute resolutions.  

7. Provide ongoing legal counseling and contract interpretation for senior executives and other business team members, independently with minimal supervisions.

8. Actively contribute to HP's key solutions portfolio by providing information ranging from technical knowledge to methodologies based on experience gained from customer projects.

We are looking for an individual with the following qualifications:

1. Advanced university degree in law (e.g. JD or LLB) from a leading Chinese or foreign law school.

2. Licensed to practice law in China.

3. Between 8-10 years of legal experience (with several years of experience at a leading global law firm and/or in-house at a major multinational corporation).

4. Subject matter expertise in commercial contracts and ability to draft and negotiate a wide variety of agreements including procurement, sales, collaboration, marketing, and professional services contracts

5. Solid legal skills and ability to identify and advise on a range of contractual and compliance risks, including, liability, indemnification, warranty, termination, privacy & data protection, and intellectual property, CS, HR and dispute resolution.

6. An ability to exercise significant independent judgment within broadly defined policies and practices to determine best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives from a legal perspective and to provide a solution for the business.

7. Proactive and effective communication skills to inform valuable information to clients and colleagues.

8. Ability to manage a portfolio of multiple deals with limited supervision and achieve results

9. Must have ability to communicate orally and in writing, draft agreements and negotiate in English and Chinese.

10. English language skills to business standard.

Preferred Qualification:

1. L.L.M from a prestigious international law school or foreign bar

2. knowledge of leading-edge technologies and industry/market domain is a plus.
