Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Central Direct Procurement & Services (CDPS) Strategic Mechanical Procurement team that develops and manages a world class component and manufacturing supply chain. As a successful candidate, you will work with internal and external partners to innovate and deliver quality parts on time at cost. You will be a member of Strategic Sourcing business team that leads HP-managed commodities, develop procurement strategies, provide sourcing leadership, and enhance our external component supplier relationships into a compelling competitive advantage.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
This person will be responsible for all the business and strategic sourcing activities of HP-managed mechanical commodities (mainly metals and plastics parts) for printers that are manufactured in Asia.
Lead the strategic sourcing business activities including but not limited to:
1. Develop and execute commodity strategy. Clearly document and communicate commodity and sourcing strategies to guide our development partners.
2. Own and develop strategic supplier relationships.
3. Manage and negotiate part pricing with suppliers. Drive cost savings. Work with Sourcing Engineers and R&D or Ops partners to identify the cost savings opportunities, execute the funnel projects and meet the program cost goal.
4. Assess the supply base capability including new supplier assessment and introduction. Monitor and evaluate supplier performance. Drive for supplier performance improvement.
5. Source new suppliers or develop alternative suppliers.
6. Manage supply base risk, develop business continuity plans and execute risk mitigation strategies.
7. Utilize supply chain and financial modeling tools. Perform supplier financial risk assessment.
8. Analyze the commodity data, conduct market intelligence and perform the price trend analysis.
9. Negotiate and contract with suppliers.
10. Support any other business or commodity management activities which relate to strategic sourcing.
Manage the operational sourcing activities including but not limited to:
1. Manage AOS (assurance of supply), EOL (end of life) and LTB (last time buy).
2. Manage commodity long term forecast and supplier capacity planning.
3. Participate and lead supplier RFQ (Request for Quotation) event. Perform RFQ analysis and work together with Sourcing Engineers to make the business award decision.
4. Manage commodity spend and deliver cost savings.
5. Maintain supplier profile and pricing information in the HP database.
6. Enable NPI (New Product Introduction) activities: early supplier engagement, materials readiness, capacity planning, cost projection and negotiation.
7. Support Sourcing Engineers and other parties on the tool transfer activities.
8. Work with internal and external partners (manufacturing partners and suppliers) to deliver the business results.
9. Follow the Procurement Management Processes that ensure audit compliance and minimize business risk.
10. Continually improve component supply chain efficiency and responsiveness.
11. Support any other operational sourcing activities as and when required.
The key partners that the person will work with include but not limited to:
1. Internal: CDPS Sourcing Engineers, R&D Designer, Program Manager, Ops Engineers, Ops Planner or Buyers, Product Cost Management team, Finance, Logistics etc.
2. External: Manufacturing Partners (MPa), Suppliers etc.
Qualification
Desired Experiences
1. Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or supply chain related discipline.
2. Hands-on experience (> 5 years) in commodity management, sourcing, procurement or supply chain function.
3. People having mechanical sourcing experience, especially metal stamping, plastics injection molding and tool fabrication, in the relevant industry would be preferred.
