Objectives of the Position

•Conduct Advanced Quality Planning andProblem Resolution activities with the local supply base. •Specialist willconduct source evaluations, manage and control supplier development, guidesuppliers in advanced quality activities and perform process audits.

•Coordinate and perform first samplingwith suppliers, if necessary with 3rd party testing laboratories for new and/orchanged parts according defined requirements.

•Coordinate with Engineering,Purchasing, Logistics, Manufacturing and Mercedes Car Group.

•Conduct special tasks and maintainIT-Systems.

Qualification required 

•Education

-Bachelor’s Degree in Engineeringrequired, Master’s Degree preferred

-quality (auditor)accreditation/certification preferred

•Experience

-Minimum of 3 years automotive industry(or comparable) experience, quality and manufacturing experience preferred

-Experience in PPAP requirements (i.e.Control Plan, FMEA, etc.)

-Proven capabilities in problem solving

•Specific Knowledge

-Written and spoken command of English;German preferable.

-Interpersonal and problem solvingskills, team orientation are necessary along with computer competency, e.g. MSOffice applications and Lotus Notes.

Task designation 

•General

-Correlation and collaboration withpeers and Commodity Groups.

-Prepare relevant data and support SPRPreporting; contribute to CIP.

•Supplier Evaluation and Release/ ABCClassification of Parts

-Prepare and participate in sourceevaluations.

-Plausibility check and verification ofdevelopment measures together with audit leader and, if necessary with 3rdparties.

•Supplier Development/ Tier-n Management

-Support supplier development and workwith suppliers, and if necessary with tier-n suppliers, on advanced qualityplanning for selected projects; support problem resolution activity at thesupplier when quality issues arise.

•Preventive Supplier and MaturityManagement/ FMEAs

-Plan, organize and conduct “RoundTables” with cross functional team for early identification of maturity levelproblems through mandatory and active involvement of suppliers.

-Assessment of quality-relatedparameters along the product creation process and result communication.

-Review and release of supplier’s FMEAswith support from Engineering.

-Control implementation of definedcorrective measures and monitor their effectiveness together with suppliers.

•Production Process and Product Release

-Planning, co-ordination and executionof processes audits as a responsible lead auditor.

-Issuance of the audit report.

-Based on audit findings, controlling ofnecessary improvement measures and appropriate implementation, as well as theeffectiveness measuring of corrective actions. If necessary, re-auditing ofsupplier’s processes.

-Set up sampling schedule and getsupplier’s commitment for defined milestones. Suggest sampling features.Monitor first out of series tooling produced parts where necessary. Perform,and if necessary coordinate external, sampling for dimensions and materialproperties according MBST 13.

-Coordinate with Engineering functionaland performance tests and compile all relevant documents.

•Hand Shake

-Prepare detailed documentation with allnecessary approvals and achieve common understanding of actual part state andq-topics.

-Prepare hand over meeting to theQ-Engineer of the plant.
